Spanish Teaching Methods

Sea

As a member of SEA (Association of Language Centers in Argentina) and one of the only Spanish language schools in Latin America to follow the accredited Spanish curriculum model of the Cervantes Institute, our teaching methods combine a variety of successful methodologies in order to ensure the most effective courses possible for our students studying Spanish in Buenos Aires.

Teaching Methods:

  • Small Groups. Our group classes are amongst the smallest offered in South America, always between two to six people, to ensure students benefit from partner and group activities as well as receiving focused and specialized attention from their teacher.

  • Flexibility & Interactivity. Because of small class sizes, teachers are able to adapt classes to student's levels and interests and provide a highly interactive environment for students to practice their language skills.
  • Student Centered Teaching. As every student has a different way of learning, individual interests and expectations are taken as core components of each teacher’s methods. Teachers meet once a week in order to discuss students necessities, make individual teaching adjustments, and share student progress.

  • Well-Rounded Learning. Students participate in many oral exercises mimicking real life situations, as well as in an eclectic mix of written tasks, games, songs, and other fun activities to help students learn and understand Spanish quickly and efficiently. Focus is put on improving knowledge of communication, grammar, and the surrounding culture, but with a careful eye to a balance of all three areas. Classes are taught in Spanish at all levels and students are taught both a “neutral” form of Spanish as well as the local variation.

  • Teachers. Our Expanish Spanish teachers are native Spanish speakers, local to Argentina. Each language teacher is a qualified professor, with university-level language certifications. Our Spanish language teachers and Expanish staff members are professional, energetic, and committed to student learning.

  • School Environment. Our school is situated in the city center, close to public transportation, homestays, apartments and local attractions. The gorgeous school building offers students access to computers, a library, and a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere for learning a new language.

  • Study Materials. All study materials and Spanish books are included with each class, letting students focus on their learning.

  • Weekly Activities. Classroom learning is complemented by "in context" learning through weekly cultural activities, sports games, and workshops from wine tasting to photography.

  • Local Contact. Expanish puts an emphasis on contact with local Argentines and native Spanish speakers so that students can put their skills to use through weekly activities, workshops, homestays, and more.

  • Student Commitment. Expanish students are those who are dedicated to learning Spanish and are goal-oriented. With the proper student commitment to using each of the tools Expanish provides for effective language learning, students will be showing off their Spanish skills in no time!
