Expanish Terms and Conditions – Argentina

Terms and conditions for students studying through Expanish.

1. Expanish

Expanish agrees to provide Spanish immersion courses for students with experienced and trained teachers, and provide a number of related services such as activities and volunteer programs. Expanish is not liable for any damage resulting from or compensation related to incorrect or withheld information received at the point of booking.

2. These Terms & Conditions

Apply from the moment the student has submitted and completed the Expanish booking form.

3. Client Documents & Insurance

The student is fully responsible for ensuring that they have adequate travel documents, travel insurance and medical insurance. Any non-compliance and any resulting damages are the sole responsibility of the student.

4. Liability

Expanish will not be held liable for loss, damage or injury to persons or property.

5. Changes to the Booking

Expanish reserves the right to charge an administration fee of US$40 for the course and US$100 for the accommodation or volunteer placement each time the program is changed or postponed after the Expanish Booking Form has been submitted. This also includes requests for changes while the student is at school. Requests should be made in writing two (2) weeks before the requested change or postponement.

6. Changes During Program

Changes between different services (courses, accommodation, volunteer placements and other services), such as substituting one service for another, are not permitted and will be considered a cancellation, refer to 7. Cancellation.

a) Changes to accommodation

Changes to accommodation in cases where the student requests to switch even though the accommodation meets the set requirements, Expanish reserves the right to charge an administration fee of US$100 to make the change and to perform the change according to availability.

7. Cancellation

For cancellations received fourteen (14) days or more in advance of the program start date, Expanish will refund all but the deposit and less non refundable charges (registration fee and bank/card fees).

For course cancellations received less than fourteen (14) days in advance of the program start date, no refund will be issued. After a course has started there is no refund for any program, this includes cancellations and/or part cancellations.

a) Accommodation Cancellation After Arrival

For cancellations of bookings of 7 weeks or less there is no accommodation refund. For bookings of 8 weeks and over, students must give notice in writing 4 weeks prior to termination otherwise a 4-weeks cancellation fee will apply.

8. Last Minute Bookings

Bookings of courses, accommodation and volunteer placements made less than fourteen (14) days of the program start date will be subject to availability.

9. Payments

If the booking is submitted less than four (4) weeks before the program start date; students must pay the full program fee. If the booking is submitted more than four (4) weeks before the program start date, a deposit is required to confirm the program booking. Until this deposit is received we are unable to guarantee program availability. The second payment with the remaining balance is due four (4) weeks before the program start date.

Payments may be effected by bank transfer or credit / debit card. Bank transfers should include any fees involved. Expanish reserves the right to charge a fee of an additional 5% when the student submits payment with a credit or debit card.

10. Holidays

Expanish will close for Argentine public holidays. During weeks where there is one (1) holiday, Expanish will offer an optional two-hour class to compensate. During weeks where there are two (2) holidays, Expanish will offer an optional 6-hour class to compensate. Students should take holidays into account when planning their trip. Please be aware that the Argentine government is prone to adding new holidays with little or no notice during the course of each year. Expanish will endeavor to communicate these changes as soon as they have been formally announced.

11. Program Changes

Expanish may change course structure & timetables at its discretion without notification. The student is entitled to a refund of tuition fees for those courses that Expanish is not able to offer.

12. Class Information

Classes are held Monday to Friday, starting in the morning. However, Expanish reserves the right to introduce a double banking time table where students alternate between morning and afternoon lessons, on a weekly or daily basis.

Expanish reserves the right to use classrooms in alternative premises of a similar standard.

13. Accommodation Information

All students housed in a Student Residence or Apart Hotel should adhere to all rules and policies provided by the residence, which may include deposits, security precautions, use of facilities, guest policies, etc.

14. Level of Spanish

If a student does not have the minimum level of Spanish required to follow a specific course, as determined by the Expanish placement test, Expanish reserves the right to move the student to a course appropriate for their level.

For volunteers, Expanish reserves the right to move the volunteer to another project in the case that they do not have the indicated Spanish level of their enrolment. The change may take up to seven (7) days and there will be a charge of US$100.

15. Reduction of Lessons

Expanish reserves the right to reduce the number of lessons in a class due to an insufficient number of students. If there are less than two (2) students participating in a group class, the student will receive the following: For Intensive Spanish 20 they will receive eight (8) hours of One to One lessons and for Intensive Spanish 30 they will receive twelve (12) hours of One to One lessons.

16. Transfers

Flight details must be advised seven (7) days prior to arrival in order for Expanish to provide the airport transfer. No refunds will be granted on transfers if flight details are not sent to Expanish at least seven (7) days prior to arrival. Airport transfer fees include a maximum of one (1) hour waiting time: in the event of delays exceeding one (1) hour, students will be charged the additional fee at the school of USD12 per hour. Details include arrival airport, arrival time, flight number, airline and point of origin.

17. Force Majeure

Expanish will not be liable for any failure to comply with obligations (and therefore shall not be required to pay compensation) if the failure is occasioned by any cause beyond Expanish’s reasonable control; nor shall Expanish be responsible for any costs incurred by or on behalf of the student as a result of any such case. Such causes shall include but are not limited to fire, flood, war, riot, embargo, organized labor stoppage, unusually adverse weather conditions, acts of civil or military authorities, acts of terrorism, acts of god, pandemics etc.

18. Complaints

In the unlikely event that a student wishes to submit a formal complaint, this must be brought to the attention of Expanish prior to the departure of the program.

19. Supervision

Neither Expanish nor its accommodation hosts provide supervision for adult student (18+years of age) who books a program. Students who are less than 18 years old are required to have consent from their parents to study. Those travelling alone need to posses any necessary documentation allowing their stay in Argentina.

20. Code of Conduct & Expulsion

Students are expected to attend a minimum of 80% of classes in order to continue each week. They should inform the school in case of absence. Students should act in a respectful manner towards fellow students, teachers, staff and 3rd party providers such as accommodation hosts and / or activity guides. The company reserves the right to expel students from the program / accommodation at its sole discretion if it finds students in breach of its basic code of conduct (supplied in the welcome pack on the first day of classes). No refund will be given. Students must pay the full cost of any damage to property and are expected to obey the laws and adapt to the customs of their host country and host family (if applicable).

21. Photography & Filming

Expanish may take promotional photographs and video footage of students. If students do not wish to participate, Expanish will respect their wishes if Expanish has been notified.
