Our Spanish school staff

I was born in Buenos Aires, but spent 6 years of my childhood in Mar de las Pampas, a beautiful beach 400 km away from this city. I combined high school years with private classes and then decided to study Education at the Universidad de Buenos Aires.

I have worked in education at various levels: elementary, high school and university, working with teachers, creating innovative teaching methods as well as collaborating in the improvement of them.

Years ago I had the opportunity to travel abroad and realized that nowadays frontiers have opened and the interchange of different cultures and languages, allow us to enrich our knowledge, not only from the academic point of view, but also in our personal experiences.

At Expanish I found a place where I can combine my aspirations and expectations. I always believe that education goes beyond passing over knowledge. Here the students can learn the language through new perspective of language courses where they can live the experience of our culture.

My name is Juan Manuel Aranda and I was born and raised in Buenos Aires. After finishing high school, I received my Bachelors Degree in Tourism which allowed me to travel and work in different cities in both Argentina and the United States. I lived in beautiful New Orleans for almost two years! After moving back to Argentina, I began a program in Political Science, and upon completion, began working for Expanish - another excellent challenge that allows me to work in tourism and with foreigners in Buenos Aires!

Expanish is a young, exciting, and growing organization, and full of opportunity! Working at Expanish allows me to meet and work with people from around the world while sharing my knowledge of tourism - two things that I love.

Hi, I am Patricia Escandar, I was born in Tucumán, a small and very beautiful province in Argentina's north, but I have lived in Buenos Aires since 1997. I am a Spanish teacher, and I work in Expanish. I have studied Literature and Linguistics in the University of Buenos Aires. I really love my language because I feel it is perfect to transmit all your feelings and your thoughts with an incredible exactitude, for that reason I enjoy teaching it!

My name is Cynthia Vilaplana. I have a degree in Communications from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, and, apart from teaching Spanish at Expanish, I am a professor of Communications, teaching at some the city's local high schools. I began teaching Spanish more than two years ago; I like to teach because I am not only interested in the teaching aspect but also as it allows me to communicate and learn about other cultures as well as to teach people about mine. I consider language a fundamental tool to establish social bonds.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, I have a university degree in Journalism (UCA University). I have been specially trained to teach Spanish as a Foreign Language and I have been doing so since 2001. I like to teach Spanish because it's my way of making the language, customs, and culture of Argentina and South America known. I speak English, German, Italian, French, Portuguese, ancient Greek and Latin, and I have been lucky enough to travel to most countries of Europe, North and South America, Russia, South East Asia, India, and Tanzania.

I studied Linguistics, Literature and Grammar at the University of Buenos Aires, with a specialization in Neurolinguistics. I have been working as a Spanish teacher for almost two years and have completed a Spanish teaching specialization course from the Cervantes Institute. I have also taken theatre and philosophy courses, language neuroscience, and aphasia seminars. Besides Expanish, I am currently working at Aphasia Foundation of Argentina. I have also studied English, French and German.

Hello! My name is Mariana Graciano and I am a teacher at Expanish. I studied Linguistics at the Universidad de Buenos Aires. I love languages and I love to have a permanent exchange of experiences with people from other countries. Teaching is a great experience for me!

My name is Analía Imparato, I am Argentine and I live in Buenos Aires. I have a degree in Spanish Literature and Language from La Universidad del Salvador. I have been teaching Spanish to people from all over the world for the last five years. I really enjoy my profession as I am able to experience different cultures and languages through the people I am teaching Spanish to. It is really an amazing and deeply rewarding experience, and always interesting!

Hi, I am Laura Hermanoff and I received my diploma in Letras (which covers knowledge of General Literature, Linguistics, Literary Theory and Classic Languages) at the UBA (University of Buenos Aires). I also study English Translation at the I.E.S.J.R.F Lenguas Vivas. Teaching Spanish is a very stimulating activity for me, as well as very rewarding, as it is great to see the improvement made by students as time goes by!

My name is Edith Guallini and I have a university degree in Social Sciences, Linguistics, as well as Education. I am a researcher and I have extensive experience as a teacher for children, teenagers, and adults. How do I combine my education and experience? The best answer I have found is to share my knowledge and background with others by means of teaching, and that is why I am a teacher here at Expanish.

Hi! I am Sonia Herskovits. I studied Science of Communication as well as Journalism in Buenos Aires. I have been working in these two fields for the past 15 years! The use of language and communication are areas of constant learning to me and teaching Spanish has opened up a new world of opportunity as teaching to international students is almost like traveling around different continents without ever having to board a plane. Through my teaching experience, I have had the opportunity to meet amazing people! Being a Spanish teacher has not only has given me the chance to teach others my language and culture but also the chance to learn about other languages and cultures. It's a very rewarding career as I am able to teach my students Spanish while my students teach me a lot about the world.

My name is Alicia Odorico and I have been teaching in many different levels of the educational system since I was 20 years old. I have been teaching Spanish as a foreign language for the past five years in immersion courses for travelers as well as in regular courses for expats. I studied Spanish and Latin Literature at the Instituto Nacional Superior del Profesorado Dr.Joaquín V.Gonzalez. I'm especially interested in literature, including writing and political issues from Latin America and around the world. I love sharing our rich language and culture with students interested!

Born and raised in Buenos Aires, I am proud to teach not only the Spanish language but also the Argentine traditions and culture. I have been teaching Spanish for more than six years now and passed the International House Certificate in Teaching Spanish with high marks. I studied Art History at the University of Buenos Aires and have a degree in Social Psychology. I dedicate my free time to painting and cooking Argentine dishes, as well as French pastries.

My name is Eduardo Grandier and I joined the Expanish staff in 2008. I have studied Linguistics at the Institute Joaquín V. Gonzalez and I additionally am a writer. I haven taken part in several literary workshops and directed narrative and poetry workshops. I have experience teaching Spanish and Classic Latin. Expanish is a school where we teach Spanish with commitment and respect towards everyone. I like to share and exchange cultural aspects besides teaching.
